that's designed to simulate parenting, is the centerpiece
of "Bootie Camp," an intense period (at least two
weeks) that's intended to give each resident a dose
of what parenting is really like.
Parenting Class
Parenting is taught-tests included-by a trained
parenting specialist.
Lamaze Class
The Lamaze method of breathing assists in childbirth.
"Mom-2-Mom" Mentoring Program
Modeled after Titus 2:1-4, the "older women" are
to "train the younger women" in such matters as
it takes to become a godly mother and wife or girlfriend.
This is accomplished through volunteer mentors who
pair up with the girls. The goal is growth, in Christian
faith, in skills at mothering, and all of the small
necessities that can become major headaches without
a friend to help. Also a part of Mom-2-Mom:
- Mommy Store: As an added
benefit to enrolling in Mom-2-Mom, by participating
the girls are able to earn "mommy" dollars, which
are used to "purchase" baby items, like cribs,
strollers, etc., or needed maternity clothes and
items.
- Mommy Mini-courses: Another
benefit of the Mom-2-Mom program is the regular
mini-courses offered, usually given by experts
in their fields. Topics include: reading to your
child, child seat safety, breast-feeding, infant
CPR and more.
